Olympics

Amazed at how into the olympics I got, in general I don't care about watching sports, and I also think much of the olympic concept is a joke, but still somehow I watched a ton and was emotionally invested.

Anyways, there have been two good ideas that I've heard of over time. One, I will call the Joe Shmo'lympics. This is the way that the athleticism of countries could really be compared. Athletes would be picked totally at random from a census list. This should create a more fair sampling of the population, rather than just the top performers who have had ears of specialized training. Probably a couple weeks would be given for training, to actually learn how to do the sport that they were assigned, and there would likely be some age restrictions too, maybe noone under 20 or above 60. I like this idea. I think USA and China would be most opposed to it, being the ones with the most to lose. I think Norway would remain near the top of the ranks though.

The second I will call the Anything Go'lympics. In this one, there are no anti-doping regulations whatsoever. The objective is peak performance by any means necessary. I think it would be pretty impressive to see exactly what can be done. Contestants would be exempt from the local health care system of course, and there might need to be regulations about surviving till your medal ceremony to actually receive it.
